Cameron & Lisa – Downside Wedding

Sometimes when I am shooting, I get lost in what’s happening and I don’t have to think anymore. The day is simply going it’s own way, and I’m just a passenger. I jump on board and hold on tight. That’s exactly what it was like being there for Cam and Lisa.

The place is Downside, a small village just outside Wagga Wagga NSW. Red dirt, brown grass and blue skies. It’s the perfect setting for a country wedding. I don’t actually know where to start to tell you the truth. Maybe I could talk about these guys complete trust in me and their amazing ability to just ‘be together’ and ‘roll with the day’. Or I could tell you all about Lisa’s epic jewellery design skills and her amazing creativity. Or Cam’s ability to make anyone feel welcome, a trait that he has no doubt inherited from his warm and kind family.

When the ‘I do’s’ were done and the hugs and kisses were shared, when the sun disappeared behind the western horizon, I knew right then that this story was going on my blog because it’s exactly why I started photographing weddings in the first place. A story that twists and turns through every emotion. Great characters that weave in and out of the narrative. The perfect setting. A day that extracted every inch of energy I had to give. I thought if I could simply harness even just a little bit of the spirit of what was happening in front of me, I would have created something truly special. A celebration of love, life and family. No holding back. Just the way it should be.
